Microsoft Office 365 Groups
Office 365 Groups are also used in SharePoint Sites with SharePoint groups. Mostly recommended Office 365 group by Microsoft is 'Office 365'.
Each office 365 group is created after completing below given steps -
- Basics
- Settings(This is not applicable for Security Group)
- Owners (This is not applicable for Distribution, mail-enabled security and Security)
- Finish
Group Type- There is four types of office 365 groups.
- Office 365- (By Default, it is recommended) This allows teams to collaborate by giving them a group email and a shared workspace for conversations, files, and calendars. This is a default setting while creating the group and this is the recommended one.
- Distribution- Send Email to all members of the list Note- The distribution type of group cannot be accessed from SharePoint – so if your requirement is managing the access in SharePoint, then this is not the right choice.
- Mail-enabled security- has all functionality of Distributed list and additional can be used to control the access to One Drive and SharePoint. So, if you want to manage access in SharePoint and OneDrive along with group mailbox functionality – this is the right choice.
- Security- groups help to control access to One Drive as well as SharePoint. it can be used for mobile device management for Microsoft 365.
During Settings Step-
- Public- Any One can access the group content.
W Note-
1- When Outlook group is created in outlook, a team site is also created in SharePoint online.
2- In the same way, when a team is created in MS Team, a team site is also created with a channel name General which is a folder under default document library.
3- If any team member is uploading any document that will be uploaded in the team site document library. Basically MS Team is also using SharePoint Online as Database.
4- In MS Team, Two Employee is sharing document with each other. In this case, Personal One drive site is used to store these file and to share between each other.
